Underwater stone running, areal shoot, and some snorkeling

As usual today was a lot of fun. We slept in and missed the truck, haha. We started off the day by driving to the other side of the island, where we went to do some sky photography. we went to a pretty remote area where not many people lived. this spot was right next to a river that dumps into the ocean. it was a black sand beach, no one else was there, except for some local kids who came up to us to talk. Check out those shots below. On the way there it was so rainy, but only for like 1/4 mile stretches. you'd drive in and out of rain and then the ground was dry. so weird. I also hacked open a beached coconut with a stick and some lava stones. the coconut water from it was so good. I need to find a coconut that has the marshmallow type core. those are the best.

Our lunch was tuna on the baguettes. 235 pf, which is like 2.20cents. it was much cheaper since it was where mostly Tahitians live. they charge tourists a ton here.. lol.

We bought a huge bag of bananas from a neighbor, 400 pf. they are so delicious  perfectly ripe and sweet. we dont ever get sweet bananas in cali.

After all of that I did some snorkeling right in the backyard. I'm still so amazed that there is a beautiful reef just feet away from where i sleep every night. i could live in the reef. if only i had gills.

After snorkeling i took a nap for like a hour. it was amazing. I hadn't had a nap in weeks and had forgot how nice they can be haha.

We then decided to go underwater stone running. Mat knew of a sandy bottom spot that was in the middle of the lagoon. so we found some big volcanic stones (~30lbs each), put them onto  a wind surfboard and then swam them ou across the lagoon. it was kind of freaky. It is very deep out there and you cannot see the bottom at all. There are most def sharks there, and it was near sunset haha. anyway we made it across and then started our runs. the spot that mat picked was a slope, and went from 2 ft deep to about 25 ft. My first run down I only made it to about 20 ft, maybe 30 ft down and then 30 ft back up the hill. it was crazy hard, such a challenge. The second time I took control over my brain, thought about other things and made it all the way down to main turn around spot (a big coral head) and then back up the hill. it felt great. i've wanted to try this for years, ever since i saw it in a surf movie. We did the run a couple more times, and then stashed the rocks for next time. We then pushed the wind surfboard back and swam the rest of the way home. I think the swim was about 1/2 mile, or maybe a bit more. After that we came back, showered up and made dinner.. now its time to crash!
