This day was awesome. In the morning I practiced my french with the food truck that drives around the island, failed pretty bad on the mango juice pronunciation.. but i'm getting better haha. Mat had a great idea (sarcasm) to go shark exploring at this one spot. the only thing about this spot is that you cant get to it unless you go outside of the lagoon, and then paddle for a quarter mile just to get to the spot. so instead we paddled up to it from the lagoon side, put on our fins, and then walked across the coral in shin deep water, through small waves, trying not to fall down. the coral is sharp as razors, and in between the coral heads there were sea urchins, covered in huge black spikes.... such a bad idea. matt didn't know there were there because he never looked with goggles lol. we made it through, got to the outside and then swam in the waves and watched for fish. no sharks sadly. crossing the reef to get back to the oc1 and paddle board was easier than coming out, we paddled back, and then i did a bunch of snorkeling I cant get enough of all of the pretty fish and coral. i love it! I could do this every day. I had to stops because if i didn't i would be sunburnt with blisters now haha.
After that excitement of almost cutting and stabbing myself on the reef we took the kite out again on top of this mountain where we thought it would be windy. it was! the kite was so strong, and we forgot the gloves so we had to be careful with the line. We shot a lot of pics about 300ft high, it was awesome. Next we are going to try to shoot over water.. this should be interesting haha.
On top of the mountain I took a panoramic shot, you can see it here: http://i.imgur.com/ngFL3.jpg
We went back to ARE factory, where i saw Yvon's airconditioning setup. He had a sprinkler on the roof of the building haha. water was flowing off all over the place. I guess it works. Its weird here with water. They have way more than they need so there is no concern to save water. The fire hydrants overflow all over the place after it rains. Much different than our water dry california.
After that we went to Poi's (a shaper from Hawaii) house to help him setup his computers. It was weird but cool to get to speak english with some people who used to live in america haha.
After that we started to work on our BBQ. We made a fire to cook a fish and a breadfruit with corned beef. it was so good, we were starving. the breadfruit was so good. it is a traditional tahician food.
I shot some pics of Mat too, for his sunglass sponsor, they came out super good on the first try. I was stoked and Mat is too.
