Sliced foot, sat the bench

This morning I woke up first. Tim and Mat were still sound asleep. I went to bed early though, and didn't even hear them come in.

This am we started the day off with some under water running. Mat brought three new rocks out since we left our old rock in about 45ft of water. I decided early on I was going to try to dive down to the old rocks to bring them back up as a challenge. I get there, swim out, find the rocks, dive down all the way down.. grab the rock and start for my sprint back up the hill to the top. I get about half way and i feel something sharp slice my right big toe. I kept running though because i wanted to make it all the way in one pass. I got about 10 ft from the end and drop the rock, then swim for air. I was so out of air that my body was tingling haha. I look down at my toe and its pouring out some blood, not good. I climb on top of the board we used to float the rocks out and its still bleeding. No more underwater running for me for a couple days at least!

I swam back and then cleaned out the cut. something tiny and black was stuck inside. it makes me think i hit a sea urchin and not coral. I used some lime juice to try and kill whatever it was that got inside of the cut and then some neosporin. We hung out in the heat for a while just waiting for the sun to get down so we could surf. Tim was on the phone off and on doing phone calls for his company back in Maui. http://hawaiianpaddlesports.com/ Is his web site if you are ever looking for a private lesson for just about any ocean sport in Maui. He was helping people pick out the right times and places to go to make sure that they had the best time possible, which I think is pretty cool. He said his company was rated #1 out of 250 activity type companies Maui, and I can see why.

Yvon and his daughter came by to hang out for a while. Mat gave a windsurf lesson to Yvon and his daughter used the SUP to paddle around. He did really good today; he made it to the white sand across the lagoon, and then turned around and made it all the way back to the house. After they got out of the water they hung out for a bit and then went spear fishing. they caught two small fish. One was really small but they said it was for their cat haha. Mat said that Yvon was really excited to try windsurfing. He said that he had always wanted to try it, so getting to made him really happy. You can see how big his smile is in the photo below.

Mat and Tim went out for a evening session on the sups. They said it was head high and super consistent. I'm bummed I didn't go. I ended up staying in because I wanted my toe to heal. It's in a real bad spot so i dont want it to get worse.

Tonight we had pasta and enjoyed the killer sunset again. I have to go to bed early now because I need to be up to work by 6am local time! maybe I should have taken more vacation time... lol.
