recharging today

Today was very relaxing for me. Mat went surfing in the outrigger early in the am and i stayed back to sleep lol. I think I had three naps today in total. I was up far too late last night editing pics, so waking up early today was not easy. i ended up napping most of the day away haha. it was so hot today, that i was sweating just sitting in the shade. I hear it is cold and rainy back at home, so it will be rough coming back I'm sure.

This nice tahitian lady came by today to pick up our dirty clothes. Mat pays her to wash them, and then bring them back and put them on the clothes line. She said that she just got back from las vegas and socal. She tried to bring some sand back from venice beach in a sock. I guess US customs thought that it was cocaine haha. they searched all her stuff, finger printed them, and tested the sand to see if it was drugs lol. And in the end they didn't let them keep the sand lol.

I went into the neighbor's yard and snapped a plumeria branch off of his tree. I planed it right in mat's backyard. I told him to let me know how it grows. It would be cool if I came back in a year and saw it growing well. I hope my plumerias at home are still alive heh.

Since it was so hot we went for a swim in the backyard. I did some snorkeling, checked out some fish on the coral, and mat put a gopro on his fin. I got to pick up a sea urchin (i think that's what it is) and see how much they move their spikes around like feet. it is pretty incredible, I thought they were more stationary to be honest. it would suck so hard to step on one.. ouch.

We walked to the snack vahine tonight to eat; we had chicken chow mein, it was huge and pretty good. this snack opened up right around the last time i was here. it looks like they dont have much business though, too bad. Mat said that the nike surf team stayed at their little hotel thing thats part of the restaurant too.

I'm really enjoying the slow pace of island life. I could totally get used to this. I know if they would let me live here i could make enough money through photography to live a basic life. But do i really want to throw away everything that i have worked for since I was 14? Probably not, but i think i want to visit here more often! Maybe someday I can get a job here as well, that would be epic. seriously though, who wouldn't want to live here?

We got things packed up for tomorrow early tonight so we can be on the neighbors boat by 5am. its gonna be rough for sure. sleep.
