SUP and no turkey

This morning we woke up pretty early for the truck, but I went back to sleep a few times trying to get some rest in. I haven't had a non-active day since I got here so my body is feeling it.

We went for a paddle down to the pass that has nice waves that flow all the way through the lagoon. we tried to catch them, Mat caught a bunch but I caught only a couple. There was no tail wind and also the swell wasn't too big so i really had to paddle hard to catch anything! By this time it was 11am and wow it was hot. I swam for a while just to cool down before we made the paddle back. My hands and shoulder are feeling the pain of paddling every day, that for sure.

After that we hung out for a while, mat went to the shop to do some work and I chilled a the house. I walked around and took photos of flowers around the house right next to us. I tried to use my macro tube, but it failed pretty bad at getting clear shots. But then i realized that the tube sort of did an artistic effect on the shots and just went for it. A few came out okay. I might need to play with it some more to see what it can do.

We had 350 PF ($3.25 USD) sandwiches for lunch. It had chicken, cucumber and mayo, on the standard french baguette. Pretty dang good.

After lunch I tried to sleep some more but wasn't able to due to it being so dang hot. It is so hot that you don't want to do anything haha. We went for a swim after a while and I ended up doing some snorkeling. I chased some big blue fish, maybe 16 inches long or so. I tried to join their school but they took off when i dove deep to hang with them.

I took some shots of the neighbor's wife and her friend working on traditional tahitian dance dresses, made from leaves. Mat was saying that their work is the most legit because they take the extra time to make the real traditional dresses. It was pretty cool to watch it. I asked them if i could take pics and they said yes. Mat told them that they ware stars (in french) and they laughed.

After that we hung out in the back yard and spoke with the neighbor a bit. We're going to go on his boat again this saturday, it should be pretty awesome, or so it sounds that way anyway. He took me over into his backyard so i could take pics of his two plumeria trees. one of the pics came out pretty good. I'm thinking i might make a print of it for my house.

Since this is thanksgiving, and I am in french polynesia there was no way I was going to get a turkey dinner like I would if i was at home. so instead we went to the tarava snack to have my favorite sashimi. we walked there in about 30 minutes, which is 3k or so. We just so happened to get the last two orders of fish that they had, and they weren't selling anything else because their gas was out. if we got there 5 mins later we would have missed out. The sashimi was awesome and the dessert was too. nice t-day dinner for sure. Also, there was a bowl of fresh flowers right next to our table, it smelled so dang good. i wish i had that type of plant at my house. It was the same flower as the one they use on the Air Tahiti Nui logo.

we walked home and then hung out for a while. hopefully this sort of mellow day was what my body needed to recover!
