Today was pretty fun. We got up early, even though my body did not want to. I got about 4 hrs of sleep last night so getting up early was not fun. We needed to get up early so that we could walk on the reef during the ultra low tide. We paddled out to the reef, tied off the board and oc1, and then walked onto the reef. Since the waves were very small, there was no wind, and the tide was really low, we were able to see so much. On our paddle over I saw a reef shark even.
After the walk on the reef we took a paddle around the lagoon, checking out the corals from above. I saw a shark, and started to follow him. I kept up with him for about 5 minutes and then boom, he was long gone. The reef was so amazing, you could see everything so well since the water was just like glass. you didn't need to snorkel to see stuff. We went to a white sand area. I spotted a decent sized sting ray that we took a picture of. We also saw a pretty big shark on the way into the pass, hah. After about three hours of being on the water we made our way in. I was beat, and cooking.
We got back, made some food, and then I took a nice nap.. i woke up, and then took another nap haha. Mat ended up taking his bike to teahupoo to get a shot from the air. His shot turned out pretty awesome (i added it below).
While mat was away working on air pics, Yvon came by and took me over to his factory so I could take some photos of his setup. I had a lot of fun shooting the pics. the place has really cool energy and all kinds of different things to shoot. I hope he likes the pics.
After shooting, mat and I were exhausted. Instead of cooking we decided to goto the snack down the road. its about a 15 minute bike ride, but mat only has one bike. so i got a pump on his handle bars, which was scary as heck. I hadn't done that in so long and mat's bike was not built for this hah. We laughed so hard at how we must have looked to everyone around us. The area is pretty much all Tahitian, not many white people. I got tired of sitting on the bars so I jumped off, took my sandals off and started to run barefoot the rest of the way at a pretty high pace. It felt good to run again, it's been a while. The snack was closed so we walked over to the roulette and ordered food. they were out of almost everything so we took what they had left, steak and fries. Our total was 2700 PF, which is about 27 dollars, for two steak and fries and a 2 liter of coke. Not too bad for tahiti. The food truck is right next to the water, and they setup a small table on a dock next to the boats, pretty cool spot. We checked out the fish with my flashlight while we waited for them to cook our food too.
Mat tried to kill us by trying to turn the bike handle bars with his weight as i was turning the other way. We somehow made it back alive without crashing the bike or getting hit by a car. Once we got back i went to work on editing pics.. and now I am going to pass the heck out. I'm beat.
